5 Reasons I Love Being Self Employed (and why you may too)
Manifesting the life of my dreams, surprisingly to me, involved being self employed. While I had considered being self employed and thought that being self employed may be the best path for me, the reasons that led to self employment surprised me as they shattered who I thought was and revealed to me who I am.
I had been working since I was fourteen years old. I got my first job in an effort to escape home.
By the time I was 30, working was an engrained part of my identity. I had no clue who I was without the demands of a job.
However, somewhat simultaneously, I was being called towards an inner work, Spiritual manifestation journey.
At first, all the things which I “desired” to manifest were things which I thought would save me from the shell or mask of a person that I had become. However, as I progressed on my Spiritual manifestation journey, I learned the truth or the integrity of what I desired.
While the things which I originally thought I desired contained the truth of these 5 reasons within them, they were, at best, shells of what my true desire were.
In this blog post, I am sharing 5 reasons why I love being self employed. These truths of mine may open your eyes to the truths in you. Maybe self employment is the path that you didn’t know is the most aligned for you. Maybe you will discover that the reasons you desire what you think you do are less integral to your person than you thought.
5 Reasons Why I Love Being Self Employed (and why you may too)
First Reason Why I Love Being Self Employed (and why you may too)
Time Freedom
Although it took my nervous system time to be able to enjoy metabolizing the wealth of time freedom, once the old, demanded and perpetually micromanaged part of me started to be integrated into this new, leveled-up version of me, I realized that having my time on my own terms was something that added a pleasure to my life that was completely new to me.
Through being self employed, I am granted the luxury and the pleasure of being able to take a nap in the middle of the day. I am able to wake up whenever I choose, and if I desire to do a three-hour meditation one morning, there is nothing that is preventing me from engaging in this practice.
Furthermore, I am able to decide to go to the beach or to the mountains at anytime I choose because I have the money giving me my time back.
Of course, it was not always this way for me. In fact, the first step to me manifesting the life of my dreams was learning how to transform my once-was paycheck into financial prosperity.
This blog post shares how you may do this as well should you choose to implement the process.
Nevertheless, although it took me time to be able to metabolize the wealth of time freedom and to thus be able to recognize that this was adding something substantial to my life rather than taking away from it, time freedom is something that I love about being self employed.

Second Reason Why I Love Being Self Employed (and why you may too)
I am My Own Boss
Part of the reason that being employed by others was detrimental to my Wellbeing is that I am a naturally quiet yet curious person who likes to do things in the way I see fit.
I find that I only take direction well when the direction is coming from someone whom I deeply admire and respect or someone who has shown that their direction is the best direction.
Far too often at work, I was told the way in which things must be done. I was told the values that I must animate in exchange for a dollar. I was pushed to be the shining employee rather than myself.
When I worked for someone else, the relationship was all about how I could serve them rather than how we could connect and create together.
Put simply, I learned that I have a deeply feminine heart that longs for connection rather than performance or results, and the workforce simply was not built to be a family.
At work, you are being used for what you provide instead of being praised for who you are.
Of course, there are many women who find that they are employed by someone else and that this employment is genuinely Soul Aligned and fulfilling.
While it may be true that such women were more fully integrated than I was, being employed by someone else proved to put a significant split in my psyche that was detrimental to my Wellbeing.
By being self employed, I was able to show up fully as I am even if this meant taking time to make a decision, being slower in my process, yet being more authentic to who I am at my core.
Third Reason Why I Love Being Self Employed (and why you may too)
Spiritual Development
Spiritual development came as a surprise to me. I thought of myself as much more religious than Spiritual, and this religiosity was deeply ingrained in my psyche in ways that I was unable to see as repressive until I had an outside perspective.
Being self employed allowed me the time and the space to realize the parts of myself that were a facade, to respond to the repressed parts of myself, and to be completely bewildered by the components of my shadow that I was projecting out onto other people.
Put simply, being self employed brought me face to face with my shadow and made me realize that it was me who I didn’t like the whole time rather than other people.
Nevertheless, being self employed also granted me the solitude to reflect and the ability to decide for myself what was important to me and the direction that I would take all at my own expense.
Being self employed gave me a responsibility with substance. Rather than racing to be the best employee, I had to plant myself deeply to have the substance that could withstand seasons of confusion, of planting seeds, and of ultimately gaining the clarity which surprised me.
Third Reason Why I Love Being Self Employed (and why you may too)
It Destroyed My Perfectionism
I was a perfectionist for most of my life because I had deeply ingrained core beliefs that I was somehow damaged, unworthy, and thus had to be perfect to be loved, acknowledged, and treated with basic respect.
Being self employed forced me to be okay with being an imperfect, ordinary woman with little more than faith leading her forward.
Being self employed humbled me to my humanity
Through embracing religion, I had learned the import of striving to meet an ideal. All this seemed to do, retrospectively, was push me to repress all the parts of myself that failed to meet this ideal.
Being self employed put me in a position in which I was forced to both face and sit in my imperfection with zero ability to mask it or to lean on the self righteousness of dogma.
What this did was it enabled me to be better than I was when I was striving to be perfect.
Through sitting in my imperfection, I was able to finally heal the parts of myself that I was bandaging for so long so that I eventually liked them.
Fourth Reason Why I Love Being Self Employed (and why you may too)
It Allowed Me to Own My True Desires
For years, I thought that I wanted to be the ambitious career woman with millions of dollars.
I thought that this was what would make me worthy, valuable, and thus happy in life, and while it is true that there are, in fact, ambitious career-oriented women who are deeply feminine, with loving marriages, and happy children, I learned that I simply lack the ambitious-woman gene.
Instead of continuing to push myself to the top, I learned through being self employed that I am much more concerned with the process than with the destination.
Plus, it turns out that what I wanted was to be at home living a quiet, simple life with a family that loves me and a husband who adores me.
I’m sure you can imagine my surprise.
It turns out that this faux desire to be an ambitious career woman was coming from an ego desire to be seen as worthy of love. I was unable to accept what my genuine desires were because I was fearful of intimacy, of being abandoned, of being abused, of being betrayed, because this is what my family taught me relationships are.
Instead of going into the hurt, I hardened myself subconsciously thinking that I could just run to the top of the mountain and would somehow outrun what my true desires were because I subconsciously saw my true desires as unattainable for me.
Although it was a process, subconscious mind reprogramming is what enabled me to accept myself fully.
The process I used and still use is shared in the LevelUp ManiScript Manifestation PowerMove Portal.

Fifth Reason Why I Love Being Self Employed (and why you may too)
I have the Space and the
Freedom for Authentic Expression
Finally, what I love most about being self employed is that it enables me to have income that is passive, to work with clients in a capacity that I find to be meaningful, and I also have the space to be open to new ways of being the more that I heal.
My business is an expression of me, yet it is also something which supports my life as I grow rather than something that I support while it grows.
While this may sound selfish to some, through being self employed I learned that what matters to me is my own personal and Spiritual development. I have zero interest in being the mule that propels something or someone else forward.
Instead, what I am looking for is something that supports me so that I can express myself in a way that is genuine, authentic, and which can change from day to day.
Self employment enables this luxury because I have zero need to show up in a particular capacity everyday. I have no pressure to perform. I only have an obligation to authentically be.
